No complete accuracy checks have been made. Errors have been known to occur during data entry and have been corrected as they are found. This data set comes with no guarantees or measures of accuracy.
The basemap being used for control is a publicly available Control Point Generated PLS layer, acquired from the DNR Division of Land and Minerals. This data set contains polygons of forty acre, government lot & meandered water lines as they were surveyed in the late 1800's. This data set should be used for large scale analysis and planning only. There is no guarantee of accuracy in this data set, nor has the accuracy been tested.

This data set was originally created using AVParcel which is an extension to ArcView. Legal descriptions of each parcel recorded in the Aitkin County Recorder's Office were digitized using the mapping tools within the AVParcel software. It is currently being maintained within ArcEditor 10.2.2 using the parcel editing tools available. In cases where parcels did not close, or adjacent parcels did not line up correctly, they were adjusted so that they did close or line up correctly within the framework of the basemap.

This data set contains tax parcel polygons for Aitkin County. The 'PRINT_KEY' field is used as the join field for related database tables such as the AS400 tax database. Any area calculations are based on the area of the polygon as mapped. The calculated area does not reflect the actual amount of acres as recorded.
Attributes associated with this data set are documented with the appropriate database tables.
